I have studied the Spiritual Disciplines for 2 years and am thrilled to be focusing on the following with each of you! The more we understand the disciplines, the easier it is to desire them and allow them to manifest and deeply root into our lives.
Prepare your hearts to receive what God wants to show you as we embark on this journey together!

Simplicity, Solitude and Confession
This breakout session will focus on the Outward Discipline of Simplicity. We will discuss how to un-complicate and untangle our lives so we can focus on what really matters. We will learn how to let our 'Yes be Yes' and our 'No be No' according to Matthew 5:37.
We will also focus on the Outward Discipline of Solitude. We will learn how to leave people behind in our thoughts to enter into a time alone with God. We will learn how Jesus mastered this concept when he 'went off to a solitary place' (Mark 1:35).
Finally, we will finish with learning about the Corporate Discipline of Confession. We will focus on surrendering our weaknesses and faults to the forgiving love of Christ and how to intentionally desire and embrace practices that lead to transformation.
Join me as we open ourselves to God while relinquishing our false selves to fall even deeper in love with Christ.

Getting excited!

Spent some time in prayer about the retreat today... I am getting really excited! I have said it before but I believe Change of Place + Change of Pace = Change of Perspective. I am looking forward to getting away from my usual routine. Every year that I have attended I have come away with something that has really helped me in my walk with the Lord. One of my special memories of the past retreats has been a prayer walk I have taken with a dear friend. Every year we have attended together we have purposed to make time for our prayer walk... where we have shared praises and answered prayer from the year. We continue to pray for one another and share throughout the year so to dedicate this time to talk about how God has answered has been very special and I believe God glorifying!
You will see pictures of Camp Egan posted in a slideshow on the right of the blog. It is a beautiful place.
Some things I will be sure to pack are...
my Bible
notebook/pen
flashlight
bottled water
walking/running shoes
comfortable clothes

Also, on the right side towards the end of this page you will see a download of the actual brochure. Be sure to share information with friends, family, neighbors, co-workers... any woman you think would be interested. Start commenting and let's get the word out! I believe God has a special weekend planned for us!
We are creating a Facebook group too... friend request me - Lisa Goldsmith - or look for the group 2010 Asbury Women's Retreat Back to the Basics.
I look forward to seeing you at Camp Egan if not before!

PRAYER

Alright girls - if we want to stay in God's will, we need to continue to put all things before Him. Our desire is to have as many participate in this part as possible!!!

Prayer changes things... as our steadfast and amazing prayer ministry reminds us with this quote "When we work, we work, when we PRAY, God works" it should encourage and fill us with joy to see our voices being heard. You are valued and vital as our plans progress!

Here are some basics we want to put before the LORD - please remember a few in your daily thoughts. We will add more as we get closer and needs arise. Thank you for the gift of your time.

- perfect weather!
- women of all ages, stages and comforts will come
- protected plans
- child care for mommies who want to come
- the information gets to all women
- pray for our speakers! Protected health and a contagious energy/excitement

Welcome girls to our first effort at bringing the Asbury Women's Ministry into the 21st Century - and so let the blogging begin!

Our purpose is to provide all kinds of information, entice the skeptical and excite women of all ages for the upcoming Spring Women's Retreat April 30 and May 1.

We have taken an old favorite and worked it into what we hope will be a new experience. Be sure to check back often for new information including, but not limited to - how to get there, what to bring, topics covered, pictures and a sneak peak into some of the things you can expect...

We definitely look forward to your thoughts and comments over the next month!

In His service, moving ahead with passion! Asbury Women's Ministry
